Robert Kaplan - Board Member

Robert Kaplan has been a senior executive and management consultant for the past 30 years. He currently has a personal practice where he counsels CEOs and other senior executives on strategy, technology, and organizational issues. Bob's expertise focuses on strategy development and implementation, organizational effectiveness, and information systems and technology. He has worked extensively with CEOs in technology-based industries, financial services, and utilities. During his tenure at McKinsey & Company, Inc. he served as a director and member of the financial services practice. Also at McKinsey, Bob was one the leaders of McKinsey's relationship with the top five US banks. As part of the leadership team of McKinsey's relationship with a leading Japanese investment management and securities firm, Bob helped develop the organizational structure and strategy for the company's entrance into the US market.


At Silicon Valley Bank he was the Head of the Office of Information Systems and CIO, leading efforts to design the bank's online transaction and reporting systems. Mr. Kaplan has also worked at Peat, Marwick, Mitchell & Co. (now KPMG) where he was a systems consultant. As a Member of the Board of Directors of Greater Bay Bank Corp. he served on the asset and liability committee. Bob has served clients in the computer hardware, software, semiconductor, telecommunications, and banking industries.

Bob received his M.B.A. from the Stanford Graduate School of Business. Also at Stanford, he completed all requirements, except dissertation, for a Ph.D. in computers and information systems. He graduated magna cum laude in economics from Yale University. Additionally, he has passed the California C.P.A. exam.
