The client is a healthcare data analytics company specializing in AI-driven solutions to revolutionize patient care and life sciences. Their cloud-based platform integrates vast amounts of real-time and historical patient data to create detailed medical and behavioral profiles. By leveraging its Medically Smart AI platform, the company curates data from multiple sources, providing actionable insights for healthcare providers, life sciences organizations, and pharmaceutical companies.

Business Challenge

The client is looking for a cloud solution that enables infrastructure audit trails, supports a HIPAA-compliant cloud infrastructure, addresses security concerns related to sensitive protected PHI, and ensures cost-effective deployment. The following challenges were identified:

  • High memory utilization on AWS EC2 instances
  • Increased RDS disk utilization due to data growth
  • End of support for CentOS 7 by AWS
  • Deprecation of Amazon RDS T2 database instances

Approach

Trianz leveraged Concierto to manage the client’s end-to-end AWS cloud infrastructure, focusing on the following:

  • Implemented swap memory to handle high memory usage on EC2 instances.
  • Scheduled data archiving every three months to optimize disk space usage.
  • Migrated servers from CentOS 7 to CentOS 9 for enhanced stability and security.

Monitoring and Observability

  • Integration with Datadog –
    • Concierto integrates with Datadog using SAML-based authentication for secure access and streamlined monitoring.
    • Custom threshold limits are defined within Datadog to proactively track cloud service performance.
    • Event rules and incident rules are configured in Concierto to receive alerts from Datadog.
  • Comprehensive Cloud Service Monitoring –
    • EC2 Instances – CPU, memory, and disk usage are tracked to monitor resource utilization and prevent performance bottlenecks.
    • Load Balancer Target Groups – Continuously validated target group health, ensuring traffic is routed only to fully operational instances.
    • RDS (Relational Database Service) – Monitored the CPU, memory, and disk usage to optimize database performance and prevent capacity issues.
  • Automated Alerting & Incident Management –
    • When a threshold breach occurs, Datadog triggers an alert to Concierto.
    • Concierto automatically generates a ticket for issue tracking and resolution, ensuring rapid remediation.
    • Incident details are logged and prioritized within the platform, enabling efficient resolution workflows and reducing downtime.

Operations Management

  • Predictive Maintenance & Failure Prevention – Concierto leveraged AI and machine learning to predict potential system failures, enabling proactive maintenance and reducing unplanned downtime.
