The client wanted to combine siloed data repositories into a single-source-of-truth (SSOT) to promote data integrity, validity, and accuracy. MySQL was chosen as a relational database management system (RDBMS) thanks to its querying performance and response times. Elastic Bamboo was adopted to expedite run builds using compute resources on the AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). The Java programming language was used as it is a critical dependency for Alfresco. SharePoint was selected as an intranet and content collaboration solution to share and host internal documentation. Informatica is an enterprise cloud data management platform powered by artificial intelligence. It was chosen as a centralized data warehousing solution, with stringent data governance and risk management, automated data discovery and preparation, large-scale analytics using serverless compute, and centralized 360-degree elucidation of business data operations. Data Interfaces were created specifically for Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and Representational State Transfer (REST) request fulfillment. Gaining visibility into business service health and co-dependent services was difficult, and manual thresholds and rule-based alerts were not fit for purpose. This led to event noise and inefficient IT operations management (ITOM). The client used a diverse multi-cloud architecture but lacked cross-cloud insight, leading to a lack of infrastructure visibility. Trianz was enlisted to build an IT Operations (ITOps) platform with intelligent monitoring algorithms, which would reduce the client’s service incident levels using data-driven analytics and AI remediation playbooks. This would bridge the current multi-cloud canyon, centralizing monitoring for the entire IT network and reducing the mean-time-to-detect (MTTD) incidents through better data correlation. Finally, the completed system was stress-tested to demonstrate the final incident prediction model, which uses historical events and trends to proactively predict IT incidents. AWS OPERATIONAL DATA STORE: A CASE STUDY

A Fortune 100 P&C Insurer Uses AWS ODS for Efficient Operations Challenge Continuous innovation in insurance analytics enables many P&C insurers to improve their plans for customer-centricity, telematics, and claim management efficiency. However, P&C insurers often struggle with leveraging enterprise-level data due to inaccessible data formats or a lack of trust in the underlying data quality and semantics. A Fortune 100 P&C insurer in the US, who we will call WesternShores, needed a next-gen operational data store (ODS). The company’s leaders found it challenging to manage operations efficiently with slow development life cycles, limited data processing capability, and heavy dependence on IT. They were looking for low-cost infrastructure and analytics solutions as they migrated their existing applications to event-based architecture. Knowing there was a better way, they set out to deploy an intelligent, state-of-the-art ODS and analytics solution. Our Approach To foster greater trust among stakeholders, WesternShores collaborated with Trianz to start user research through a focused questionnaire and conducted executive interviews and workshops to uncover key issues and gather data points. To suggest a smarter analytics solution, WesternShores needed to know the costs of a big data platform on the cloud to make the right choice. They were already using Hadoop-as-a-Service (HDaaS) as an alternative to on-premises Hadoop deployments; however, due to a lack of skilled resources, were struggling to use it to its full advantage. After evaluating their existing analytics landscape and infrastructure and analyzing data points, we suggested deploying Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. We leveraged our proprietary total cost of ownership (TCO) calculator to compare their HDaaS with Hortonworks Data Platform deployed on AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to estimate the total cost of ownership (TCO). We also defined a roadmap to deploy the HDP on the cloud. Considering all the internal and external factors, we proposed three storage options to WesternShores in the Hadoop deployment architectures on AWS: Simple Storage Service (S3) - Amazon Simple Storage Service or Amazon S3 can store vast numbers of backups or user files, which are readily available when needed. There are no resource procurement cycles or investments upfront, which means they can keep their data safe from errors, failures, and threats. WesternShores can easily hold their content and media files in S3, which may be served efficiently from AWS CloudFront. Plus, S3 can easily create a data lake to hold raw data in its native format and then use machine learning tools, query-in-place, and analytics to draw insights. Elastic Block Store (EBS) - Amazon’s block-level storage solution, where they can keep the data on the AWS EBS servers even when the EC2 instances are shut down. EBS offers them high availability and low-latency performance within the selected availability zone, allowing them to easily scale storage capacity at a low subscription-based pricing model. AWS EC2 instance store - An AWS instance store is a temporary storage type located on disks that are physically attached to a host machine. Out of the three instance store volumes, we suggested Ephemeral storage to WesternShores. Also known as virtual devices, this was suitable for low-latency storage. CLOUD SECURITY POSTURE MANAGEMENT

Trillium Targets Secure, Compliant Cloud Infrastructure With cloud computing rapidly phasing out legacy and on-premise applications and infrastructure, one of the leading payment services and mobile payment gateway providers in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region – we’ll call them Trillium – recognized the need for a secure, fully compliant hybrid cloud environment for their e-wallet application. This application, that required lifting and shifting into the cloud, would serve all of Trillium’s e-wallet users in the Egypt area, with a full data migration that needed to be conducted within the short span of a year. Because Trillium had an existing relationship with Trianz, they turned to us to handle the e-wallet application’s platform migration, rearchitecting, and data governance. Addressing Cloud Challenges In June 2018, Trillium was looking to ensure that their cloud platform was up to standard, with a customized architecture to handle their approximately 300 vendor management systems (VMS) and appliances, as well as the more than 300,000 transactions made through the app in a day. This was especially important considering that these applications were financial inclusion products used by a large segment of Egypt’s population lacking access to full-scale banking services, as well as by small businesses. In addition to this, Trillium needed to establish multiple front-end and back-end connectivity for the customers and for failover, while also having an environment that was compliant and secure according to PCI, SOC, and ISO 27001 regulatory standards, at all times. Trillium required a thorough cloud security posture management (CSPM) process to help them detect misconfigurations, encryptions and inappropriate permissions, while also ascertaining regulatory policy compliance, monitoring suspicious activities, and enabling real-time protection for the cloud. The Trianz Approach to CSPM As an enterprise with considerable experience in the areas of cloud security and CSPM, Trianz partnered with Trillium to revamp their hybrid cloud environment. Our cloud experts sat down with the Trillium team to conduct a thorough cloud security posture audit. This included discovering how and where their resources were being consumed, investigating the types of transactions that occurred on each resource, and identifying who accessed them. A Secure Pathway To Data Access Copyright © 2021 Trianz When the teams were able to procure this information and identify Trillium’s cloud security needs, the Trianz consultants leveraged Azure Security Center, Key Store, and Defender – as well as other technologies like Sophos and Checkpoint – to monitor data access activities and configure alerts that would detect suspicious behavior. With these alerts, Trillium’s hybrid cloud system would be able to automatically detect anomalies, firewall rules changes, and IP address ranges. Coupled with these upgrades, Trianz also worked with the client to perform a thorough assessment of their cloud platform misconfigurations. Now armed with a deep understanding of the issues at play, the Trianz team was able to resolve Trillium’s key cloud platform misconfigurations in such a way that they achieved 100% in Azure’s Security Benchmark, as well as hitting their regulatory compliance targets. The Technical Takeaways Along with helping Trillium obtain their goal of being fully adherent to SOC, ISO 27001, PCI, and DSS data governance policies, Trianz was able to maintain their cloud environment misconfiguration-free, along with generating regulatory reports whenever requested. Furthermore, our team was able to protect the cloud platform from data leakage by automatically blocking downloads to their infrastructure, as well as rejecting uploads of any malicious files. This was a clear step forward in terms of Trillium’s data security. Impacts to the Business Through our engagement with Trillium, we were also able to help them realize several impactful changes to their business. As a result of the increased security and higher data quality, the accuracy of insights improved, as did customer relations. Higher regulatory compliance further strengthened the company’s reputation, while simultaneously lowering incident rates and consequently, the resources and hours wasted on resolutions as well. This would also guarantee smooth, uninterrupted service delivery to customers. The hybrid cloud environment’s scalability meant that the e-wallet platform went gradually from being able to handle 300,000 transactions daily to 3 million, allowing them to onboard even more customers – whether private individuals or small businesses. All this, while remaining fully secure. Furthermore, Trillium needed their data to be fully migrated and secured in the new cloud environment within the span of a year (i.e. by July 2019). AWS OPERATIONAL DATA STORE: A CASE STUDY

A Fortune 100 P&C Insurer Uses AWS ODS for Efficient Operations Challenge Continuous innovation in insurance analytics enables many P&C insurers to improve their plans for customer-centricity, telematics, and claim management efficiency. However, P&C insurers often struggle with leveraging enterprise-level data due to inaccessible data formats or a lack of trust in the underlying data quality and semantics. A Fortune 100 P&C insurer in the US, who we will call WesternShores, needed a next-gen operational data store (ODS). The company’s leaders found it challenging to manage operations efficiently with slow development life cycles, limited data processing capability, and heavy dependence on IT. They were looking for low-cost infrastructure and analytics solutions as they migrated their existing applications to event-based architecture. Knowing there was a better way, they set out to deploy an intelligent, state-of-the-art ODS and analytics solution. Our Approach To foster greater trust among stakeholders, WesternShores collaborated with Trianz to start user research through a focused questionnaire and conducted executive interviews and workshops to uncover key issues and gather data points. To suggest a smarter analytics solution, WesternShores needed to know the costs of a big data platform on the cloud to make the right choice. They were already using Hadoop-as-a-Service (HDaaS) as an alternative to on-premises Hadoop deployments; however, due to a lack of skilled resources, were struggling to use it to its full advantage. After evaluating their existing analytics landscape and infrastructure and analyzing data points, we suggested deploying Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP) on Amazon Web Services (AWS) Cloud. We leveraged our proprietary total cost of ownership (TCO) calculator to compare their HDaaS with Hortonworks Data Platform deployed on AWS Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to estimate the total cost of ownership (TCO). We also defined a roadmap to deploy the HDP on the cloud. Considering all the internal and external factors, we proposed three storage options to WesternShores in the Hadoop deployment architectures on AWS: Simple Storage Service (S3) - Amazon Simple Storage Service or Amazon S3 can store vast numbers of backups or user files, which are readily available when needed. There are no resource procurement cycles or investments upfront, which means they can keep their data safe from errors, failures, and threats. WesternShores can easily hold their content and media files in S3, which may be served efficiently from AWS CloudFront. Plus, S3 can easily create a data lake to hold raw data in its native format and then use machine learning tools, query-in-place, and analytics to draw insights. Elastic Block Store (EBS) - Amazon’s block-level storage solution, where they can keep the data on the AWS EBS servers even when the EC2 instances are shut down. EBS offers them high availability and low-latency performance within the selected availability zone, allowing them to easily scale storage capacity at a low subscription-based pricing model. AWS EC2 instance store - An AWS instance store is a temporary storage type located on disks that are physically attached to a host machine. Out of the three instance store volumes, we suggested Ephemeral storage to WesternShores. Also known as virtual devices, this was suitable for low-latency storage. Customer Master Data Management makes Big Impact A global pharmaceutical enterprise needed a master data management solution to cleanse and standardize information from different sources to better serve its sales operations and internal HQ processes, as well as feed external pharmaceutical partners based on co-promotion arrangements Business Challenge The client needed a master data management architecture to standardize, cleanse, and merge more than 20 data sources into a “single version of the truth.” Also, there was a need for automation to consolidate data and integrate processes, eliminate overlapping processes, and govern business rules and metrics. TERADATA TO SNOWFLAKE MIGRATION

The client is an American multinational technology conglomerate that develops, manufactures and sells networking hardware, software, telecommunications equipment and other high-technology services and products. To utilize a new Database Technology, the client needed to migrate the Teradata code in their Business Objects Instance to the Snowflake platform. Business Challenge Owing to the licensing cost, performance issues and an overall mandate to migrate to the cloud, the client was in the middle of a migration of Teradata code to Snowflake platform. To ensure that the business was able to utilize the new database environment, the Teradata specific SQL syntax within the Business Objects environment had to be converted to Snowflake and reintegrated into the Business Objects Environment. Scope of POC Five Web-Intelligence Reports 1 Business Objects Universe Timeline: One month Teradata to Snowflake SemanticLayer Conversion The Approach The Trianz team, consisting of two Snowflake data engineers and one Business Objects Architect, thoroughly analyzed and documented the client’s Business Objects requirements, design and business processes needed to successfully implement the migration. Utilizing Proprietary Code, we extracted the SQL code from the Business Objects Universe, translated it with our custom-designed Evove software solution and then reinserted it into the Business Objects Universe. SQL Syntax proved to be programmatically successful by converting 90% of the tables, with only 10% manual conversions. The conversion was tested by running the WebI reports against the new Snowflake environment to ensure that (a) the reports run successfully and (b) the data match. In the live environment, Trianz was able to successfully run all the reports and match the data at the expected rate. Transformational Effects As a result, above 75% of Business Object instances were programmatically converted to Snowflake. Evove was able to automate the conversion of over 95% of derived tables, with only 6 tables converted manually. Not only was Trianz able to provide initial results on 40% of the reports within the first week, but they were able to complete the migration within a month. Trianz was also able to identify 6 to 7 tables that could be optimized for further Snowflake usage. This process would normally take 2 – 3 months to complete manually, and the solution can be scaled to do 5 to 6 universes within the same time frame, due to the programmatic nature of our application. Gaining visibility into business service health and co-dependent services was difficult, and manual thresholds and rule-based alerts were not fit for purpose. The client used a diverse multi-cloud architecture but lacked cross-cloud insight, leading to a lack of infrastructure visibility. How Trianz Helped the Insurance Provider to Enable Multi-Cloud Analytics and Insight on BMC with Splunk Trianz started by conducting workshops across all business departments, helping key stakeholders to understand the present IT challenges and the plan-of-action to remediate using BMC and Splunk. AUTO DISCOVERY & SAM IMPLEMENTATION

Implementation of centralized Software Asset Management (SAM) solution for a single source of truth The client is one of the largest drinking water and wastewater utilities in the nation, with a network of nearly 5,742 miles of fresh water pipeline and over 5,546 miles of sewer pipeline. It was looking for a single platform to auto discover the assets and centrally manage the software assets & IT Service Management platform. Business Challenge The client didn’t have complete infrastructure dependency information, which was leading to multiple unplanned outages. It also lacked visibility into the business view of IT infrastructure and workstations scattered across different locations. Due to these issues, the client was unable to identify the risk before implementing the change as well as understand or manage complex licensing models and software lifecycle effectively. Additionally, there were increasing security threats and other risks due to unauthorized software installation by end-users. CONSOLIDATING INFORMATION TO IMPROVE IT EFFECTIVENESS

A leading school district in Georgia, U.S., was using a helpdesk system with no automation, and no authorized process to track IT assets spread across more than 100 sites. Frequent changes to infrastructure caused unanticipated outages, and lack of a well-defined process to resolve such incidents resulted in frequent SLA breaches. The client partnered with Trianz to map applications, as well as organize and consolidate information to enable effective service management. Trianz installed and configured the IBM Tivoli Application Dependency Discovery Manager (TADDM) solution to discover a complex infrastructure with multiple firewalls, air gaps and hardened security. We also implemented ITSM operational and process management tools, including endpoint management, configuration and change management, in addition to integrating TADDM and BigFix solution to populate Configuration Management Database (CMDB). Additionally, Trianz developed a process to automate impact analysis and view Request for Change (RFC) details from the TADDM application. Rolling out Endpoint Manager (BigFix) was critical to ensuring all hardware and software assets and their usage across sites were tracked in a centralized repository. The Business Challenge A reliable source of data was needed to accurately track IT assets and a dearth of well-defined processes to analyze and resolve critical outages. Centralized Event Management, Self-healing and Auto-remediation of incidents A Leading Auto and Personal Insurance Provider’s current homegrown IT Service Request Management tool was nearing end of vendor support and was facing frequent performance and stability problems. Given the significant growth in capabilities in ITSM tools over the last five years, a replacement will move the client to a new platform with improved usability for the end user and a significant increase in automation and integration capabilities. Business Challenge Manual processes and growing complexity of the environment was overloading IT staff, resulting in longer times (approx. three days) to resolve critical incidents and growing backlog (~1000) of work requests IT staff was consumed with reactive tasks leaving no time for process improvement. Low level of integration of multiple tools and siloed repositories of information (CMDB, incident logs, ITOM) made it difficult to correctly diagnose and resolve incidents first time, resulting in a significant rework effort and time to close incidents. CLOUD SECURITY POSTURE MANAGEMENT

Trillium Targets Secure, Compliant Cloud Infrastructure With cloud computing rapidly phasing out legacy and on-premise applications and infrastructure, one of the leading payment services and mobile payment gateway providers in the Middle East/North Africa (MENA) region – we’ll call them Trillium – recognized the need for a secure, fully compliant hybrid cloud environment for their e-wallet application. This application, that required lifting and shifting into the cloud, would serve all of Trillium’s e-wallet users in the Egypt area, with a full data migration that needed to be conducted within the short span of a year. Because Trillium had an existing relationship with Trianz, they turned to us to handle the e-wallet application’s platform migration, rearchitecting, and data governance. Addressing Cloud Challenges In June 2018, Trillium was looking to ensure that their cloud platform was up to standard, with a customized architecture to handle their approximately 300 vendor management systems (VMS) and appliances, as well as the more than 300,000 transactions made through the app in a day. This was especially important considering that these applications were financial inclusion products used by a large segment of Egypt’s population lacking access to full-scale banking services, as well as by small businesses. In addition to this, Trillium needed to establish multiple front-end and back-end connectivity for the customers and for failover, while also having an environment that was compliant and secure according to PCI, SOC, and ISO 27001 regulatory standards, at all times. Trillium required a thorough cloud security posture management (CSPM) process to help them detect misconfigurations, encryptions and inappropriate permissions, while also ascertaining regulatory policy compliance, monitoring suspicious activities, and enabling real-time protection for the cloud. The Trianz Approach to CSPM As an enterprise with considerable experience in the areas of cloud security and CSPM, Trianz partnered with Trillium to revamp their hybrid cloud environment. Our cloud experts sat down with the Trillium team to conduct a thorough cloud security posture audit. This included discovering how and where their resources were being consumed, investigating the types of transactions that occurred on each resource, and identifying who accessed them. A Secure Pathway To Data Access Copyright © 2021 Trianz When the teams were able to procure this information and identify Trillium’s cloud security needs, the Trianz consultants leveraged Azure Security Center, Key Store, and Defender – as well as other technologies like Sophos and Checkpoint – to monitor data access activities and configure alerts that would detect suspicious behavior. With these alerts, Trillium’s hybrid cloud system would be able to automatically detect anomalies, firewall rules changes, and IP address ranges. Coupled with these upgrades, Trianz also worked with the client to perform a thorough assessment of their cloud platform misconfigurations. Now armed with a deep understanding of the issues at play, the Trianz team was able to resolve Trillium’s key cloud platform misconfigurations in such a way that they achieved 100% in Azure’s Security Benchmark, as well as hitting their regulatory compliance targets. The Technical Takeaways Along with helping Trillium obtain their goal of being fully adherent to SOC, ISO 27001, PCI, and DSS data governance policies, Trianz was able to maintain their cloud environment misconfiguration-free, along with generating regulatory reports whenever requested. Furthermore, our team was able to protect the cloud platform from data leakage by automatically blocking downloads to their infrastructure, as well as rejecting uploads of any malicious files. This was a clear step forward in terms of Trillium’s data security. Impacts to the Business Through our engagement with Trillium, we were also able to help them realize several impactful changes to their business. As a result of the increased security and higher data quality, the accuracy of insights improved, as did customer relations. Higher regulatory compliance further strengthened the company’s reputation, while simultaneously lowering incident rates and consequently, the resources and hours wasted on resolutions as well. This would also guarantee smooth, uninterrupted service delivery to customers. The hybrid cloud environment’s scalability meant that the e-wallet platform went gradually from being able to handle 300,000 transactions daily to 3 million, allowing them to onboard even more customers – whether private individuals or small businesses. All this, while remaining fully secure. Furthermore, Trillium needed their data to be fully migrated and secured in the new cloud environment within the span of a year (i.e. by July 2019). By partnering with Trianz, they were able to achieve this goal and avoid the significant financial penalties that would come with a delay.
